Bloemendaal have signed Canterbury all-rounder Ben Langrope for their Hoofdklasse campaign this summer.
Langrope (25) has played over 100 games for the St Albans Cricket Club Premier Men’s Team in the Christchurch Metro Club Cricket Competition.
The seam bowling all-rounder made his Premier debut as a 16-year-old and has since scored over 2,000 runs with 11 fifties and taken 142 wickets at 22.50 including best bowling figures of 6-12.
Last season (2012/13) was his most prolific, scoring over 600 runs and taking 35 wickets to be named the Christchurch Metro “Club Cricket Player of the Year”.
Langrope represented his province, Canterbury, at under 15’s, 17’s, 19’s, Canterbury Kiwi’s and also Canterbury ‘A’ back in 2007-09. He was also chosen in the National Selection under 17’s team for performance at the tournament and also gained selection for the New Zealand Under-19 Squad in 2007/08, however was never selected to play.
He has also played abroad, turning out for Newcastle in the North East Premier League in 2011 as the clubs overseas player, with highlights being a best bowling of 5-52 and highest score of 86.
Langrope is a proven all-rounder who represents a fine recruit for Bloemendaal who will be looking to improve on last season’s third place finish and gain promotion to the Topklasse this year.
