Report for away match against United 21/7/13.

On possibly the hottest match day of the season so far, United won the toss and decided to bat first. With some tight bowling and some top order batting most politely described as ‘questionable’ we were able to get of to quite a reasonable start, picking up wickets regularly to have the opposition 6/60. As the innings wore on however the heat started to effect the boys and a combination of loose bowling and a number of missed chances United were able to put on a 95 run partnership for the 7th wicket. Finally the breakthrough came with the coach driving to cover for a sharp catch. We cleaned up the tail quickly to restrict them to 184 which was significantly helped out by our 32 wides. All in all though a good effort with Masood picking up 4 wickets, Aldroy 3, Q with 2 and Mangesh 1.
The batting innings started in spectacular style with Douwe smacking a massive six off the first delivery, causing massive damage to not only the ball but United spirits as well. The fast paced start continued with Aldroy and Douwe putting on 41 for the first wicket before Douwe was bowled for 20 in his textbook style. A couple of small partnerships followed with Aldroy (21) and Madan (17) falling reasonably quickly.  Sam and Dave then combined for a partnership of 84 before Sam threw his wicket away the ball after reaching his half century. Disaster then followed with Q being run out without facing a ball, but that was the last hiccup the team faced, with Dave anchoring the innings with 47 n.o and Masood a quick fire 15 n.o to finish off the match.
Heading into the final round match of the season at home against Red and White, we hope for an improved performance and a win over our fierce rivals to take us to 17 points and possibly within 1 point of VCC heading into the finals. Hope to see everyone there with some great weather and a big BBQ after the match.
Cheers,
Sam
